ALUMNI ASSOCIATION CONSTITUTION
PREAMBLE
For the purpose of setting forth the relationship of this body to the Fruitland Baptist Bible Institute, an institution of the General Board of the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina, we do declare and establish this Constitution.
ARTICLE I: NAME
The name of this organization shall be "THE FRUITLAND BAPTIST BIBLE INSTITUTE ALUMNI.”
ARTICLE II: PURPOSE
The purpose of this organization shall be to enlist the cooperation of all former students and friends of the Institute in promoting the welfare of the school, and to stimulate a deeper spirit of love, and loyalty for Fruitland Baptist Bible Institute
ARTICLE III: MEMBERSHIP
All graduates and former students, present and former members of the faculty and administration, and persons elected to honorary membership on the recommendation of the Executive Committee may be active members upon the payment of the yearly dues of three dollars ($3.00).
ARTICLE IV: OFFICERS AND THEIR ELECTION
• The officers of this organization shall be a president, a vice-president, and a secretary-treasurer. Members elected to these offices must give their consent to serve before election.
• The president shall be elected for a term of two years and shall not be eligible for re-election until he has been out of office for one year.
• The vice-president shall be elected for a term of two years and shall not be eligible for re-election until he has been out of office for one year. He may be elected to the office of president.
• The secretary-treasurer shall be elected for a term of one year. He shall be eligible for re-election each year. The person elected to this office must live in close contact with the school. The treasurer will try to keep a minimum of fifty dollars ($50.00) as a balance for emergencies.
ARTICLE V: COMMITTEES
• The Executive Committee shall consist of the duly elected officers, the chairman of the Nominating Committee, the chairman of the Publicity Committee, the presidents of the State Alumni Chapters, the presidents of duly registered Fruitland Fellowships within the state of North Carolina, and the chairman of the Constitution Committee.
• The Nominating Committee shall consist of three member serving so that one member is elected and one retires each year with no member serving more than three years consecutively. The member serving the final year of his term shall serve as chairman. Nominations for this committee shall come from the floor in a regular session.
• The Publicity Committee shall consist of three members elected each year. The president shall appoint one of the three as chairman.
• The Committee on Arrangements shall consist of the president, the vice-president, the secretary-treasurer, and any others whom the president shall appoint.
• The Constitution Committee shall consist of three members appointed by the president. They shall serve until replaced.
• Other committees shall be appointed at the discretion of the president with the consent of the body.
ARTICLE VI: TIME AND PLACE OF MEETINGS
• The annual meeting of the Alumni shall be held on the first Thursday in October at the Fruitland Baptist Bible Institute at 1:30pm.
• Fellowship meetings may be held at the Baptist State
Convention, the State Evangelism Conference, and the Southern Baptist Convention.
• Special meetings may be called by the Executive Committee.
ARTICLE VII: ALUMNI CHAPTERS AND FELLOWSHIPS
• The Executive Committee shall assist the vice-president in promoting Alumni Chapters in other states and Alumni Fellowships in North Carolina.
• The purpose of the Alumni Chapters and Fellowships shall be to keep the alumni interested and informed concerning the school and other alumni.
• The officers of these organizations shall be a
president, a vice-president, a secretary-treasurer, a reporter,
and others if necessary.
• Alumni Chapters and Fellowships must register their
officers with the secretary of the Fruitland Baptist Bible
Institute Alumni and meet at least once per year.
• Alumni Chapters and Fellowships may govern themselves
in any manner that is not contrary to this Constitution.
ARTICLE VIII: AMENDMENTS
This Constitution may be amended by a two-thirds vote at an annual meeting provided that written copies of the proposed amendment have been given to members of the Constitution Committee sixty (60) days in advance and mailed to alumni on the mailing list thirty (30) days in advance.
NOTE: The adoption of this Constitution shall supersede all previous documents of this nature.
